Alicante-Elche Airport continues its record-breaking start to 2024 with its best-ever passenger numbers in March.
Airport owner AENA reported that 1.2 million passengers used the airport's services last month, 21.3% more than a year ago and 27.2% more than in 2019, before the COVID pandemic broke out.
In the first quarter of 2024, passenger traffic totaled 3.2 million, 22.7% more than in the same period last year.

There were 20,729 flights between January and March, 18.4% more than a year earlier.
The bulk of March's passengers - more than one million - were international travelers, dominated by the United Kingdom (437,414).
The Netherlands came second with 89,504 passengers, followed by Germany with 70,348.
The big emerging market is Poland, which is just 319 behind Germany.
Last month, Alicante-Elche was the seventh busiest Spanish airport, as the summer season and a 13% increase in schedules compared to last year lie ahead.
